The Origami dripper was the first dripper I ever owned. I really like the elegance that comes from the fragility of this ceramic piece. Also, its design allows it to accommodate two types of filter paper—Kalita and Hario (nerding out a bit here). Back to the topic: when I received the dripper, I was surprised by the variation in colour on the ridges, which I hadn’t noticed while browsing online. To address this unexpected detail, I decided to recreate the dripper in 3D. Initially, I wanted to do it procedurally, using curvature to add colour variation. However, the result felt too rigid. So, I turned to Substance Painter for the first time, working with UDIMs and hand-painting the texture. Substance Painter is fun but painful at the same time. Reminds me of Houdini.
